Compete across four categories — Recreational, Intermediate, Advanced, and Open — with $2,100 in cash prizes, prizes, and gear up for grabs.

All skill levels welcome. Ages 12+.

QUALIFIER COMPETITION

Three-hour redpoint bouldering competition with categories for all ability levels.

  • All Categories, Finals Qualifier

  • 10am–1pm

  • $50 members / $65 non-members

  • $75 at the door

Refunds are not available for Elm City Showdown.

OPEN FINALS (ONSIGHT FORMAT)

The top 6 competitors in each Open (V8+) division compete on our Kilter and Decoy boards for $2,100 in cash and other prizes.

  • 2:30pm to ~4:30pm

  • Spectators welcome! Free to watch.

SPECTATORS WELCOME - FREE TO WATCH

Food trucks, live music, an exciting show and a great atmosphere all day. Come cheer on your community!

Please complete our Participant Agreement (waiver) before you arrive at the gym.

EVENT FAQ

  • REDPOINT QUALIFIER COMPETITION

    • 9:15am — Check-in

    • 9:50am — Competitor meeting

    • 10:00am–1:00pm — Competition

    AWARDS (Rec, Int & Adv)

    • ~1:45pm — Awards & results ceremony

    OPEN FINALS (Onsight Round)

    • 2:15pm — Finalists enter isolation

    • 2:30pm — Finals begin

  • Competitors will be placed in a category based on their final score.

    Two divisions: Male+Nonbinary and Female+Nonbinary.

    • Recreational: VFun–V2

    • Intermediate: V3–V5

    • Advanced: V6-V8

    • Open: V8+ climbers competing for the finals cash purse.

    Top 6 M’s & nonbinary and top 6 W’s & nonbinary will be eligible for the Onsight Finals Round.

  • In a redpoint format, you can attempt problems as many times as you like in the allotted time. Count only the problems you complete successfully, without a fall.

    Your final score is the sum of your 5 highest-difficulty completedproblems within the session window. Track each completed climb and the number of attempts it took to send.

    Prizes go to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each division for the Recreational, Intermediate, and Advanced categories.

    The top 6 Open competitors from each division advance to the Finals round on specially set problems on our Decoy and Kilter training boards.

  • Our gendered categories are open to anyone who identifies with or feels most comfortable in that group — cis, trans, nonbinary, or anywhere in between. Choose what feels right for you. Everyone belongs at Ascent and ECS.

  • The top 6 Open competitors from each division advance to the Finals — an onsight round held on our adjustable training boards.

    • Male+Nonbinary division:
      Decoy Board (45°)

    • Female+Nonbinary division:
      Kilter Board (45°)

    The Finals begin shortly after 2:30pm. Top finishers compete for a share of the $2,100 cash purse.
