Bonfire Boulder Bash is Ascent’s annual community fun-comp — part climbing event, part block party. Every climb you send earns raffle tickets toward a prize drawing open to all competitors regardless of rank, so showing up and giving it a shot is the whole point. Category trophies for those who want to chase placement, raffle prizes from local spots for everyone else.

All abilities welcome. Seriously.

SCHEDULE & PRICING

Fun-Competition

Two hours of climbing for all categories. Doors open at 6pm. Rules meeting at 6:15pm.

Climbing 6:30pm to 8:30pm

Also Included

Eldorado Taco truck will be on hand, plus we’ll have fire pits (weather permitting) on the turf with s’mores.

Raffle, scores, and podium shortly after 8:45pm.

$20 for current Ascent members
$35 for non members

Max 120 climbers, so please RSVP
$40 at the door

Spectators Welcome

$5 cover charge at the door helps with bonfire, s’mores, drinks and other costs.

DETAILS

Ascent will be open from 7am-5pm.
From 6-10pm, the gym is open for the event only. Non-competitive climbing, lifting, the sauna, and the showers will be closed for the event. $5 cover charge for spectators.

RULES MEETING - 6:15pm
CLIMBING - 6:30-8:30pm
AWARDS, SMORES, DRINKS & RAFFLE - 8:30-9:30pm
Every competitor will be given a raffle ticket to be entered into a drawing at the end of the competition. Winners will receive a gift card to a local establishment.
Two divisions: male + nonbinary, female + nonbinary.
Three categories within each division:
- Recreational: V0-V3
- Intermediate: V4-V6
- Advanced: V7+
All categories will compete in one two-hour redpoint round.
This is a redpoint competition, meaning you can try boulders multiple times. Your total score will be the sum of your (4) most difficult, completed problems in the allotted time.
You will record which climbs you complete and how many attempts it takes you to send.
Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for each category (Recreational, Intermediate, and Advanced) within the two divisions.
During the week of 11/8, zones 1, 2, 3, part of 4, and 8 will be stripped and set. Climbs in these areas will be closed until the event on Friday the 13th.
